About Me

I’m Jonas Stranger‑Thorsen Pettersen, a senior R&D software engineer with a Master’s degree in Cybernetics. Based in Norway, I specialize in developing intelligent automation systems that blend cutting‑edge hardware with advanced software. My work bridges control theory, machine learning and practical engineering, and I’ve contributed to industry‑leading organizations including RVM Systems, VEAS, ABB, SINTEF, Last Mile Communication and TOMRA Systems.

Over the years I’ve worked across the entire spectrum of automation: from sensor calibration and electrical design, through process control and optimization, to full‑scale implementation of automated industrial systems. I’m comfortable with Python, C and C++, Git, Qt, Linux and embedded platforms; I routinely design PCBs, create CAD models, and integrate software with hardware. My expertise in control theory spans classical PID controllers, state‑space methods, observer design (including Kalman filtering), robust and adaptive control, and model predictive control. I’m also experienced with simulation tools like MATLAB/Simulink for prototyping and analysis.

My passion for AI encompasses both theory and practice. I work with supervised and unsupervised learning, neural networks and deep learning, reinforcement learning, generative models (GANs and diffusion models), natural language processing and computer vision. I’m an advocate for ethical AI and cyber security, and enjoy exploring how big data and advanced analytics can improve decision making. Beyond algorithms, I deploy solutions on Linux servers and embedded devices, use cloud platforms and containerization, and follow best practices in continuous integration and version control.

What drives me is turning complex problems into elegant, user‑focused systems. I love collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, sharing knowledge and pushing technological boundaries in automation, AI and industrial IT. When I’m not designing or coding, you’ll find me experimenting with new ideas, refining my skills, or connecting with fellow tech enthusiasts. I’m excited to keep shaping the future of intelligent systems—and to see where this journey leads next.
